The Seiko 5 Sports SSK001 in Black is a GMT automatic watch from the Seiko 5 Sports SKX Sports Style GMT Series, marking the first time a GMT function appeared in the Seiko 5 Sports line and drawing its case design and five-row bracelet inspiration directly from the legendary Seiko SKX series that established Seiko's reputation as the most accessible route to a reliable mechanical diver-style watch. The SSK001 features a black dial with bold Lumibrite luminous hands and markers, a large red GMT hand for second time zone visibility in low light, a bi-color metalized rotating bezel with a Hardlex glass ring indicator where the color split separates night and day hours, a 42.5mm stainless steel case with screw-down see-through caseback, and the classic five-row stainless steel bracelet with polished middle rows contrasting the brushed outer rows, finished with a tri-fold push button release clasp.
