In February 2016 Adidas decided to move away from the monochrome colourways seen on the first Primeknit R1's in favour of adopting this glitch-like Primeknit, a pattern that would come in a black and vibrant yellow colourway with specks of white peeking through. The Gold NMD R1 was a trailblazer in presenting an upper Primeknit stitch pattern which opened a Pandora's box for all that followed moving away from one tone creations and creating the possibility of two, three, four tone colourways to begin to emerge onto the now staple NMD silhouette.
