The adidas ZX 8000 atmos Setsubun is part of a collaboration between adidas and atmos, a Japanese sneaker and streetwear boutique known for its limited-edition sneakers. This colorful sneaker honors Setsubun, a Japanese festival that celebrates the transition from winter to spring, with traditions such as bean-throwing and chasing away bad luck or demons. The upper is made of crisscrossing mesh, forming a checkered pattern in red, blue, and green. Each color corresponds to a different demon or "oni" that family members chase away during Setsubun. Soft red, blue, green, and tan suede overlays overlap the mesh, creating a DIY aesthetic. The collar is lined with fuzzy tiger-print fur, representing a specific oni wearing a tiger-skin skirt. The adidas ZX 8000 atmos Setsubun was released on February 2, 2021, and retailed for a price of $153.
