There is no more important sport to sneaker culture than basketball and to celebrate their 68th season, the National Basketball Association released their own 68th Anniversary NBA Sneaker. While NBA branded sneakers have been common over the years through partnerships with footwear brands and the licensing of team logos, the NBA Sneaker stands on its own with the NBA logo proudly displayed on the tongue. The NBA 68th Anniversary Sneaker features a red white and blue color combination that matches perfectly with the iconic logo featuring the silhouette of NBA legend Jerry West. The design features no other branding aside from the logo on the tongue but does feature printed stars across the ankle collar and heel. A grooved midsole and shaped tongue and heel give this NBA sneaker som character. The smooth toebox and ventilated side panels hint at some of the traditional sneakers seen on court over the years and even could be loosely tied to a Chinese brand’s designs but this shoe is distinctly its own thanks to the unique design and red, white and blue colors. The NBA 68th Anniversary Sneaker dropped in the summer of 2014 with special packaging featuring the logos of all 30 NBA teams and was limited to just 1946 pairs in production.
