The Nike Kyrie Flytrap V Black University Red is the 5th Nike sneaker design inspired by NBA star Kyrie Irving. This high-performance basketball shoe is designed for multi-directional play with quick cuts. The Black University Red colorway of the Nike Kyrie Flytrap V sports a lightweight upper of black and red mesh with synthetic overlays and a synthetic side-panel Nike swoosh. The laces thread through webbing straps that crisscross over the top of the foot so that when you lace up the shoe, the webbing is tightened to hold your foot in place. The black synthetic heel counter is also designed to lock your foot in place. The black foam midsole houses a Zoom Air unit under the forefoot to give cushioning, support, and bounce-back response. Kyrie branding appears in red on the black tongue. What we find most impressive about this shoe is the gray rubber outsole with its traction pattern informed by computer data. We especially love the way the traction pattern sneaks up the side of the shoe, ideal for pushing hard off the edges.
