The original Nike Waffle Trainer was released back in the 1970s, but Nike has continued to find ways to modernize it to keep it current. The Nike Waffle Trainer 2 Fireberry is just one of the many examples of this. To help bring this particular Nike Waffle Trainer 2 into the 21st century, Nike made its nylon and suede upper a bright Fireberry color with hits of orange and added a wedge midsole to it to provide it with an updated appearance. The brand also shoehorned all kinds of new technology into it, including dual-density foam in the midsole as well as a sock liner made out of memory foam. But what we might appreciate most about this track sneaker is that Nike knew to leave certain elements of it alone to avoid completely changing its look. For example, it still has the waffle outsole that made it such a huge hit when it was first released almost half a century ago. The Nike Waffle Trainer 2 Fireberry was released on May 29, 2021, and retailed for $120.
