The model has kept the same parts since: an EVA foam midsole with ENCAP, the firm polyurethane rim around a softer core, a suede and mesh upper and a rubber outsole. In 2021 New Balance called it a classic of more than three decades when it released the 57/40, a taller take on the same shoe, on 9 January 2021.
