Trompe L'oeil,' meaning 'deceive the eye' in French, is a style of art that creates a 3D illusion. Renowned Belgian fashion designer, Raf Simons uses this innovative technique in his 2019 'Trompe L'oeil' collaboration with adidas. The Raf Simons x Micro Adilette Slides replicate Simons' color-blocking pattern from his April 2019 Micro Stan release. Imprinting the multi-colored design onto the rubber foot strap and outsole of the sandal, adidas and Raf Simons add their own branding to highlight the textured exterior.
