Nike Air Max

Air Max is Nike's line of shoes with a visible Air unit. The first, the Air Max 1, was released in 1987, designed by Tinker Hatfield, with a window in the midsole that shows the Air cushioning. Nike says the window was inspired by the Centre Pompidou in Paris, a building with its ventilation and escalators on the outside.

Later models kept the name and changed the unit: the Air Max 90 (1990), the Air Max 95 (1995) with two visible units, and the Air Max Dn8 in 2025. Since 2014 Nike has marked Air Max Day on 26 March with new colourways.
