Powered by the august Jaeger in-house automatic caliber 772 the Universal Time is an absolutely perfect compliment to the re-imagined Geophysic line that debuted April 2014. The original Geophysics were released in 1958 (for a single year) to accompany scientific geophysical experiments and fields of study the world over during the International Geophysical Year. Loaded with technology and intended as precision companions the Geophysics were intended for professional, albeit tough use. What better way then to celebrate that watch than with a world time dial and the seldom used but ultra-precision complication, the dead beat seconds? To more accurately display the passage of time the Universal Time sends the central seconds hand around the dial once every minute, which every timepiece does, but with a dead beat second - or True Second as Jaeger refers to it - the seconds hand stops on each and every seconds hashmark before continuing to the next. It amounts to a visually unique representation of the time in a day but if you're somewhere you don't want to be or you're anxiously awaiting news or anticipating an occasion this is not the watch you want to stare at - metaphorically you'll forever be waiting for the final bell at 3 o'clock on the last day of classes before summer vacation.
