This pink gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Small Second ref. 1272510 is the watch you wear with a tuxedo. Full stop. At an elegant 38.5mm with a smooth bezel and shapely lugs you couldn't ask for more classical dimensions or refined aesthetics, and that "eggshell beige" colored dial is just gorgeous. There's nothing superfluous about it, no extra lines of text, no date window - even the seconds hand is inconspicuous - but well-conceived little details abound. Look at the applied pink gold hour markers for example, they come in four different sizes but they're all three-dimensional triangles that glint light in such a way that they seem bright gold or black depending on the angle. Beautiful in the sunshine. Notice too, the minute track is made up of little pink gold dots that are then mirrored in the sub dial at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 positions. All of that in turn matches the pink gold Dauphine shaped hour and minute hands, and because this piece is black tie kit there isn't a spot of lume in sight, which is how it should be. Simplicity is extremely hard to do, easier to fill the dial with bric-a-brac than strip it to its core elements without it looking austere and harsh.
