Vans Authentic

The Authentic is the first Vans shoe. The Van Doren Rubber Company opened in Anaheim, California, on 16 March 1966, founded by Paul and James Van Doren with Gordon Lee and Serge D'Elia. Among the first styles was the #44 deck shoe, a canvas low-top with a vulcanised rubber sole. Navy pairs were on the feet of the Z-Boys at the Del Mar Nationals in 1975, and in 1993 Vans officially renamed Style 44 the Authentic.
