ASICS Gel-1130: the daily trainer that does not want to be one
By Laura Gil · 6 min read

The Gel-1130 fits like a training shoe: a roomy forefoot, a heel that holds without pinching and a thin tongue that stays out of the way. Anyone who comes from an ASICS running shoe knows the fit at once.
The cushioning is the familiar one, with less foam than the current fashion. The heel gel shows in the first steps and then disappears, which is what it should do. On tarmac it asks for an easy pace; once you push, the sole runs out.
It is for the person who wants a daily shoe that does not look like a fashion piece. It works for the long walk, the trip and the Sunday jog, and in black with silver it goes with everything. For racing there are better options from the same house.
The price has been coming down since the colour came out, and it moves between shops from one week to the next. Check the box above before you buy: it tells you where it is cheapest today, in your size.
