The adidas Superstar CLOT by Edison Chen Dark Blue changes the classic design with a dark blue suede upper, a matching blue shell toe and a jagged rubber Ripple outsole. Its reported 16 October 2026 timing is a marketplace listing date, not an announced brand launch.
Suede construction and tonal shell toe
A standard Superstar is built around smooth leather, three stripes and a rubber shell toe that usually reads lighter than the upper. This Edison Chen pair swaps that base for brushed dark blue suede on the side panels, eyestay and tongue. The nap looks soft and matte, not glossy.
The shell toe stays. It is still the rounded rubber cap that has marked the model since the late 1960s, when adidas built it for basketball courts. On KJ0283 the cap matches the dark blue upper, so the front reads as one block instead of a pale shell on a darker shoe.
Smooth leather sits on the logo and the overlays. Leather also lines the collar. Shops describe a lace-up men's pair, with the usual flat laces through punched eyelets in the suede facing. The tongue stays in the same dark blue nap, so the top view has no white patch breaking the colour.
The toothed Ripple outsole design
The clearest break from a normal Superstar is the rubber underfoot. The familiar shoe uses a cupsole with a low profile and a fine herringbone tread. This pair uses a deep, jagged sole that shops call Ripple or Sawtooth. Both names point to the same toothed unit.
The teeth run the length of the outsole and lift the upper off the ground. From the side you see sharp grooves under the welt, not the smooth band of a standard Superstar. The shell toe still sits at the front, but the whole silhouette stands taller because of that sole.
Shops tie this tooling to earlier adidas work with Edison Chen. CLOT is his Hong Kong label, known for mixing local codes with global streetwear. On this Superstar the toothed sole is the repeat idea, set against a quieter dark blue, cardboard and tech indigo mix.
Colourway palette and panel composition
The colour name is Dark Blue/Cardboard/Tech Indigo. Some shop systems shorten it to DKBLUE/CARDBO/TECIND. Dark blue covers the suede and the shell toe. Tech indigo is the deeper navy used on smaller accents.
Cardboard is the earthy tan in the mix. It traces seams and leather trim, and it splits the dark upper from the dark rubber below. The result is a low-contrast Superstar, closer to a dressed shoe than to the white-and-black court original.
That original became a street shoe in the 1980s, when the shell toe and stripes moved from sport into hip-hop wardrobes. Later pairs mostly changed colour. This one keeps the shell toe and stripes, then changes the material and the sole shape.

The style code is KJ0283. European shops listed that code on 16 October 2026. Treat that day as the date those shops put the shoe on sale, not as a confirmed adidas launch date.
Listings are men's. One shop shows EU sizes from 38 upward, and another starts its chart around EU 41 1/3, with UK and US columns beside them. Use KJ0283 when you search, so you do not land on a standard Superstar or an earlier CLOT pair.
If you already know your Superstar size, check the conversion before you buy, because EU, UK and US labels do not line up the same way on every adidas pair. The dark blue suede and the Ripple sole are what separate KJ0283 once you have the right code.
