Air Force 1 Low: what the words after the name actually tell you

Our catalogue carries over two hundred and eighty Air Force 1 Lows with a public page. The name alone will not separate them — a handful of short tokens will, and here is what each one marks.

Air Force 1 Low is the deepest single shape in our catalogue, and the hardest to shop by name. Two pairs can share the colour in the title, sit a code apart, and be built differently — different leather, different sole, a different edition entirely. The words that follow "Air Force 1 Low" are what separate them, and they are not decorative. Each one marks a construction or a size run, and once you know which is which, a listing stops being a wall of grey text.

The tokens, and how often each one appears

The table below counts every Air Force 1 Low with a public page in our catalogue that carries each token in its own name. It is a count of what we hold, not of what Nike has made, and it is the quickest way to see which editions are ordinary and which are rare. The tokens are data and are not translated — they are part of the product's name, and a shop will use the same letters.

Counts are of pairs with a public page in our catalogue today. They move as the catalogue does; the code is the part that stays put.

Two things stand out. The first is how far ahead '07 is: the plain current build is the shape the shops we check actually buy, by a wide margin, and everything else is a variation on it. The second is how thin the special editions are. LE, Shadow and Essential are each represented by a handful of codes, and the further down that table you go the more likely it is that a listing you find is the only one you will find. That is useful to know before you decide to wait for a better colour.

The pairs a shop has today

These are pairs our catalogue holds with a shop listing them right now. The code is exact; the name is written the way our catalogue writes it, which is not always the way a given shop writes it, so trust the code. Sizes differ from shop to shop and from listing to listing, which is what the product page is for — it shows each shop's own size run rather than an average of them.

Every pair above has at least one shop we check listing it today. The product block below carries today's offers and names the shops behind them.

The pairs that are still only a date

Part of this shape is on the calendar and not on a shelf. The dates below are the ones the marketplaces list, the same field our release calendar publishes, and they move — a date that slips a week is completely normal. Until a shop we check lists the pair there is nothing to show for it, and we would rather show you the date than an invented figure.

Five of these ten share a single date and a single prefix, which is the Luxe run. Dates are data and are not translated.

The Luxe run is worth a sentence of its own. Five colourways, one release date, and four of the five codes read JF5453, JF5455, JF5456 and JF5457 — a gap in the middle of the run rather than a solid block. When codes cluster like that it usually means one more existed and we do not hold it, which is exactly the kind of thing this site will not paper over: if a code is not in our catalogue, we do not have a page for it and we will not pretend otherwise.

Women's and children's pairs are separate rows and separate charts

Seventy-one of the Air Force 1 Lows we hold are marked (Women's) and thirty-seven are marked (GS). Those are not cosmetic labels. They are separate products with their own pages, their own sizes and, in the case of the women's pairs, a separate size chart. A pair our catalogue marks (Women's) is not simply a smaller version of the men's one in the same numbers, and the difference shows up the moment you convert a size between the two.

Concretely: on the Nike charts we publish, a UK 4 is a US 4.5 in the men's chart and a US 6.5 in the women's one. Those are the same letters on a shop's listing and two completely different sizes. It is the single most common way to end up with the wrong pair, and it costs nothing to avoid — read the chart that matches the product page you are on, not the one you looked at last week for a different shoe.

The US and UK labels on our product pages

Our product pages show each shop's sizes in the shop's own numbering, and the chart page converts between EU, US and UK. The Nike men's chart has one quirk worth knowing before you use it: it spends two rows on UK 6, splitting EU 39 and EU 40, which is precisely the band most men's Air Force 1 sizes sit in. So if you are between a UK 6 and a UK 6.5, the chart is telling you the European number is the one that decides.

What to do with this

  • Search by the full style code, including the part after the dash. It is the only field every shop agrees on, and it survives a shop renaming a colourway.
  • Read the token before you read the colour: '07 is the ordinary build, LV8 and Retro Premium are their own runs, and SE, LX, LE, Shadow and Essential are rare enough that waiting for another colour is not a plan.
  • Check whether the pair is marked (Women's) or (GS) before you convert a size. Both are separate products with separate charts, and (GS) is the one people most often miss.
  • On a pair that has a date and no shop behind it, waiting costs nothing. On a code from one of the thin editions, the listing you have found may be the only one — that is a decision about scarcity, not about price.

Each page names the shops that have the pair and shows today's offers, or says plainly that nobody has it yet. On the dated ones the page fills itself in the moment a shop we check lists them.
