Air Max Plus: the colourways we list, and the code that separates them
· · By Redacción HYPEIBIZA
One name covers at least five different shoes, and the shops we check list all of them under the same two words. The style code is the only field that tells you which one you are buying.
Nike has used the name Air Max Plus on several different builds, and the shops we check list them all under the same two words. So the name on a listing tells you very little. The photo is small, and colourway names are made up for the season and written differently from shop to shop. The style code does not move, and is the quickest way to tell which shoe is in front of you.
One name, five builds
The name covers the original Tuned Air silhouette, the Air Max Plus 3, the Air Max Plus Drift, the Air Max Plus 7 and the Air Max Plus SE. They are separate shoes with separate codes, filed under one name. The SE is listed here in women's sizing, with one grade-school pair beside it. There is also a toddler pair of the plain Air Max Plus, under its own code and sizes.
- The plain Air Max Plus: the original silhouette, and the one the DM0032 codes belong to.
- The Air Max Plus 7: the current generation, and the largest group in this article.
- The Air Max Plus 3 and the Air Max Plus Drift: different uppers carrying the same name.
- The Air Max Plus SE: a special edition, listed here in women's and grade-school sizing.
The prefix is the build, the number after the dash is the colourway
A Nike style code has two halves. Before the dash sits the prefix, and that belongs to the build. After it sits a number that identifies the colourway within that build. So DM0032-601 and DM0032-028 are the same shoe in two colourways, while HQ2197-100 and DM0032-601 are different shoes that happen to share a name. Once you can read the two halves separately, a shop listing stops being ambiguous.
The plain Air Max Plus carries DM0032, IQ0168, IH4459 and IF6224. Nike issues a fresh prefix for later seasonal runs, so an unrelated-looking code is often the same shoe in a newer colourway. The Air Max Plus 7 is HQ2197 and IQ0282, the Air Max Plus 3 is IF6319, the Drift is FD4290 and the SE is HJ9743. Children's pairs have their own: DR7996 on a toddler Air Max Plus, II7204 on a grade-school SE.
That is the whole trick, and it changes how you shop. Search a retailer by the full code and you land on the exact pair. Search by the colourway name and you will find three different shoes with three similar names, or nothing at all. The names are not standardised between retailers, and often not between seasons.

Every row below is a pair our catalogue holds with a shop listing it today. The code is exact. The name on the right is written the way our catalogue carries it, which is not always the way a given shop writes it. Treat the code as the reliable half of each row. The table is a selection, not the whole catalogue.
Style codes and the catalogue's own model names. The code is data, so it is not translated; the product block below carries today's offers and the shops behind them.

Much of that list is Air Max Plus 7. Our coverage is concentrated there, and comparing pays off there. The plain Air Max Plus is present mostly as single colourways, not long seasonal runs. That is normal for a silhouette a year after its run. The codes that survive are the ones shops still have something left of. The size run on the product page tells you whether what is left is any use.
Air Max Plus 7 is the deep end
Choosing between colourways, not hunting one code? Start with the Air Max Plus 7. This article lists eight colourways, all in adult sizing: White Black, Black, Dusk, White Blue Crystal, University Red, Smoke Grey Hot Curry, Black Dark Copper and Iron Grey Smoke Grey. Seven of them are on the HQ2197 prefix and one, Iron Grey Smoke Grey, is on IQ0282. When more than one shop lists the same code, you only see the difference side by side.
How to use this
- Search by the full style code, including the part after the dash. It is the only field the shops agree on.
- Use the Air Max Plus hub to see every colourway of the family we hold in one place. Use the Nike release page for what is merely dated.
- If a code you have seen somewhere else is not in our catalogue, we do not hold it. We would not print an offer for a pair we cannot check.
- On a pair that is still dated rather than listed, waiting costs you nothing. A pair several shops end up listing is the one worth comparing. A pair only one shop ever lists is the one to take when you see it.
Each page names the shops that have it and shows today's offers, or says plainly that nobody has it yet. Nothing on this page is a price we have written down and forgotten to update.
