Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” (2026): reported 10 October date and a box from a 1985 photo
Regular High OG build rather than the ’85 shape, in black and blue leather. The blue panels are reported to carry a little more texture than the 2017 pair, and the hangtags back to 1985.

The Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” (2026), style code IQ5495-005, is reported for 10 October 2026. Black leather covers the base and blue leather covers the toe, Swoosh, ankle and heel, with a white midsole underneath. Special packaging is reported alongside the shoe, drawn from a 1985 photo shoot.
What the shoe itself looks like
This pair uses the regular High OG build, not the ’85 shape. Black leather runs through the whole base of the upper. Varsity Royal leather lands on the toe box, both Swooshes, the ankle collar and the heel, which is the layout the colourway has always had.
White midsoles sit under that upper, and royal blue rubber outsoles finish the bottom. The result is a dark high-top, a clean white band at the base and a blue sole, with Nike Air in the heel as on this high-top for years.
One detail worth noting: the blue leather is reported to have a little more texture than the 2017 pair, especially around the collar and the back of the shoe. Colour strings in circulation read Black/Game Royal-White and Black/Royal-White. Both name the same black, blue and white mix.
The hangtags are also reported to go back to 1985. That matches the way this colourway has been handled: the last full leather run came in 2017, and the 2023 pair came as a reimagined version rather than the standard build.
The 1985 Oregon shoot behind the box
Jordan never wore the Royal Air Jordan 1 in an NBA game, so the colour has no on-court record to borrow from. It comes from his first year with Nike instead. In 1985 Nike brought photographer Chuck Kuhn to Oregon to shoot Jordan, and the black and blue pair was on his feet rather than the black and red colours tied to the Bulls.
One frame from that session shows Jordan standing on an open road. The image is the one that later became known through the Flight Guy poster, and it is the photo the early Royal is remembered by. For 2026 the box is reported to carry that road image across the outside, with more frames from the same shoot inside.
The shoe itself does not change for the packaging. It stays a standard leather High OG, and the extra piece is the box, not a new last or a new build. Treat the box detail as reported, and judge the pair on the leather if that is what matters to you.
What is settled and what is only reported
The leather upper, panel layout, white midsole and blue outsole are reported, not confirmed by the brand. Several product listings describe the same pair and the same code. What is still running on reported information is the timing: 10 October 2026 is the day in circulation, and dates for this kind of release can still move before the morning of the drop.
Availability is reported through Jordan’s own retail channels and a set of select stores, with early access reported at some of them and the Nike release going live in the morning US Eastern time. The pair is listed as an adult grade, with no youth version on the same code.
Where this Royal sits beside the other recorded colourways
The Royal sits apart from the rest of this high-top’s 2026 colour list. Cool Grey, Flight Club and Pale Ivory Psychic Blue are the everyday records of the model, and none of them is tied to a single 1985 image. The Royal is the one with a documented session behind it, and for 2026 that session is the packaging.
So the pair to plan around is a familiar black-and-blue leather high-top on one reported day, 10 October 2026, with a box that is reported to come out of Jordan’s own 1985 photo session in Oregon.
