Barons baseball roots and the 1996 film
Michael Jordan’s minor-league time with the Birmingham Barons is the reported inspiration, a chapter also shown in the 1996 film Space Jam. This release reportedly marks thirty years since that film hit cinemas.
The Jordan 11 is best known as a basketball model, so the MCS version makes a clear change of purpose: this pair is a baseball cleat. The reported Barons theme connects the shoe’s baseball use with Jordan’s time in the sport and the film’s setting.
Sole and upper details
A purple cleated outsole, as reported, puts the 11 on a baseball sole and meets a black midsole. Reports also describe a black heel tab with a purple stitched 23 and a purple Jumpman on the outer heel.
The upper is reported to use Lapis purple leather, with black laces. The 2025 Air Jordan 11 Mojave is another point of comparison: the reported distinction here is a different purple and a leather upper.
The Space Jam name also appears on other Jordan 11 releases, but those are separate colourways and versions. A women’s Magic Ball edition and a grade-school Low cleat are among the related pairs listed for 2026. This MCS model is the mid-height baseball cleat, not that Low cleat or the standard basketball release.
