The 2027 colourway pairs a dark navy leather upper with white overlays and blue accents, a palette that recalls the original 1997 Jordan 12. The combination keeps the contrast centred on the deep navy base, with lighter panels and blue details breaking up the upper.
Stitched lines cross the upper and refer to Japan’s rising-sun flag. Tinker Hatfield designed the Jordan 12, whose high-top shape gives those lines a prominent place across the shoe.
The Obsidian high-top last had a retro release in 2012; the reported 2027 edition would bring it back as a high-top again. That interval gives the return a clear place in the colourway’s history, while its familiar navy, white and blue arrangement links it to the first version.
A date with differing status
January 23, 2027 is listed for the release, but its status differs across coverage: one account calls it scheduled, while another describes it as tentative.
The Jordan 12 Retro has appeared in other familiar colourways, including Bucks, Bloodline, Taxi and French Blue. Those names place Obsidian within a broader retro line, while its dark navy base and bright blue accents give this version its own clear identity.
