The Superstar 82 shape
adidas launched the original Superstar in 1969 as a low basketball shoe. The rubber shell toe was built to take hits on a wooden court. Three serrated stripes run down each side. A cupsole joins the upper to the outsole.
Run-DMC put the shell toe in hip-hop in the mid-1980s. After that the Superstar left the court and stayed in streetwear.
