Air Max 95: the Neon name on four codes, and what Big Bubble marks
The same colourway name turns up four times in our catalogue on four different codes, once for each size run. Two words in the title — Big Bubble — are the other half of the story, and neither word tells you the size.
Our catalogue lists the Air Max 95 in thirty pairs we can name, and they do not all sit on the same shape. Most are the running shoe with the visible air units at the heel and the forefoot; two are a golf shoe on the same name; one is an SB; two are a LEGO collaboration in pre-school sizes. What they share is the two words at the front and a style code that changes underneath them, and the code is the part that tells you which size run — and sometimes which shoe — you are actually looking at.
What the name carries, and what it does not
Across the thirty pairs, exactly nineteen carry the words Big Bubble somewhere in the name our catalogue holds. That is not a size and it is not a colourway: it is the word the listings use for the build, and it appears in front of the colourway in almost every case — Big Bubble Baroque Brown Leather, Big Bubble Slate, Big Bubble Smoke Grey Racer Blue. Where it is missing, the pair is usually something other than the running shoe, or a name that never had it attached: the Premium Greedy, the Olympic, the two Golf pairs, the two LEGO pre-school pairs, the SB Cacao Wow, the Tech Illusion Green and the Pink Foam pre-school pair.
So the long name on a listing is doing two jobs at once, and it is worth separating them. Big Bubble describes the shoe. Everything after it describes the colourway. Neither of them tells you whether you are looking at an adult pair, a women's pair or a child's pair, and that is the part buyers get wrong most often, because the colourway name is identical across all of them.
The Neon name on four codes
Neon is the clearest example in our catalogue. It is the colourway name most people arrive looking for, and we list it four times — once as an adult pair, once in women's, once in grade school and once in pre-school. Four listings, four names that all say Neon, four different style codes, and two different years in brackets because the adult run and the three smaller runs were not filed for the same season.

Notice how the name behaves as the sizes get smaller. The adult pair spends four words before it reaches the colourway. The pre-school pair spends two, and it is the only one of the four without Big Bubble in it at all. If you were searching by name you would find the adult pair first and the pre-school pair last, and you would have no way of knowing from the words that the second belongs to the same colourway as the first. Searching the code instead takes you straight to one of the four, and the code is also what tells you it is one of four.

The thirty pairs sit on twenty different prefixes, so most of them carry a single colourway and nothing else. Six prefixes carry more than one, and those six are worth knowing because they are where a search by number can still leave you with a choice to make. All counts below are of the pairs named on this page, not of everything the shops stock.

The smaller size runs are the ones that come and go
Twelve pairs on this page are not adult pairs: six are women's, two are grade school and four are pre-school, and one of those — the Leather SE Nike F.C. — is a grade-school pair sitting on a prefix of its own rather than sharing one with an adult sibling. That is the normal shape of a model this old. The adult colourways keep being reissued on fresh prefixes, and the child sizes arrive and leave with the season, which is why the pre-school pairs in our catalogue are the ones most often filed under a numeric prefix rather than a letter one. Numeric codes are the older form; a pair of child's Air Max 95 on a number is usually a pair that has been listed the same way for a while.
The golf pairs deserve a sentence of their own for the same reason. They are filed under the Air Max 95 name and they are not running shoes, and if you arrive from a search for the name rather than the code there is nothing in the words that will warn you. A code check takes a second and settles it.
How to use this
- Search the full style code, prefix and all. It is the only part of the name the shops and our catalogue spell identically.
- Big Bubble describes the build, not the size. The last three digits describe the colourway. Neither describes the size run — look for (Women's), (GS) or (PS), or check the code.
- Two words that look like the same shoe can be a running shoe and a golf shoe. The code is what separates them.

- On a pair only one shop lists, waiting rarely helps. On a pair several shops list, comparing is the whole point — the product page shows them side by side.
