Converse All Star: what Hi, Ox, 70 and First String change, and how the size chart reads

The words after the name decide which shoe you are buying. The size chart decides something else, and which chart applies is decided by the style code rather than by the word Converse.
On 23 September 2026, chuck Taylor All Star was a family of thirty pairs in our catalogue, not one shoe. One word between the name and the colourway tells almost every pair from the next. The words mark a different cut, build or line; they are not decoration and not seasonal. Two of them also mark a size that is not the size you expect. So the second half of this page covers the chart, not the shoe.

Hi and Ox are two cuts of the same colourway, not two products with two names. In our catalogue they arrive in pairs. The Hello Kitty and Friends run has a Hi and an Ox on codes that sit next to each other, and the Minions run does the same. So the word does the work a size field does elsewhere. It is the difference between the pair you wanted and the pair that arrives.
The chart is chosen by the code, not by the brand
Converse is the one brand in our sizing config with a second full family of charts. Beside the plain Converse conversion sits Converse Standard, each with men's and women's sides. Both are published: /sizes/converse and /sizes/conversestandard. The style code, not the brand word, decides which chart measures a pair. Our config holds a measurement for 2,204 Converse codes: 1,494 on the Converse chart and 710 on Converse Standard.
On 23 September 2026, with no measurement for a code, the pair falls back to the brand-word rule. So two listings that read alike can be measured against different charts. Of the thirty pairs on this page, twenty-three have a measurement and seven do not. All twenty-three resolve to the plain Converse chart, not the Standard one. That describes the pairs we list, not Converse in general. Check the code before you trust a size.

How the Converse chart reads against the Nike one
On our Converse chart UK and US numbers match throughout: UK 8 is US 8, UK 10 is US 10, UK 12 is US 12. On the Nike chart the US size is larger, by half a size at the bottom of the range and a full size from UK 8 upward. In EU the charts sit a whole size apart mid-range: Converse UK 8 is EU 41½, Nike UK 8 is EU 42½.

On the women's Converse chart the US number runs two above the UK: a UK 7 is a US 9. On the men's chart the two are identical. So one UK size means different things on each side of the chart. It matters for exactly the pairs we list in women's sizes. If you convert a size across shops instead of reading it off the product page, keep those two numbers straight.
The pairs we list
Every Converse code in this list ends in C, the form the brand has used for the pairs we carry. The long numeric codes in our measurement table are the older shape, on pairs listed the same way for years. The blocks below show today's offers. How to use this
- Read the word between the name and the colourway before anything else. It decides whether you are buying a high-top, a low, a platform or a premium pair.
- Search by the full style code, including the letter at the end. It is the field the shops and our catalogue agree on, and the field our chart routing reads.
- Check the chart on the product page rather than converting from memory. The Converse conversion is not the Nike one, and the women's side of it is not the men's side.

- On a licensed run, decide which of the cuts you want before you start comparing. A Hi and an Ox of the same colourway are two different pages and two different sizes.
