BAPE says it started from a hunting camouflage and worked the brand's Ape Head logo into the pattern. The first two colourways were Sand Yellow, known as Yellow Camo, and Olive Drab, known as Green Camo; the green version faded towards yellow with age, and in 2025 BAPE released a Mixed 1st Camo for its Legacy line based on that faded look. The pattern was reissued in the Fall/Winter 2017 season.
